Biography

The Uptown Band is led by its founder and 1997 Shippensburg University Graduate Erich Cawalla. Erich holds a BSBA in Accounting from Ship but music was always his lifelong dream. He has been a full-time musician and booking agent since 2004.

The exhilarating musical synergy The Uptown Band has created with audiences in their home region of the Northeast and beyond continues to grow. Since 2006 and for almost 20 years, they have been an AWARD-WINNING PREMIER CHOICE as the featured act at almost 2000 shows. The Uptown Band has earned a solid reputation as one of the country's most versatile and respected live bands.

Hailing from Reading PA, The Uptown Band's clients include military officials, professional athletes, government entities, federal judges, governors, senators, entertainers, corporations, non-profit organizations...and of course FAIRS! They continue to earn industry awards including The Bash's Best of Gigmasters, Gigmasters' Lifetime Award, 2x Rising Star Award, Gold Member Award, and five nominations as the Best Variety/Dance Band at the Central Pennsylvania Music Awards, winning the award in both 2022 and 2024. Original recordings of The Uptown Band have also received radio placement across the world, including Music Choice on National Cable TV.

The band prides itself by being able to perform virtually any type of music while making sure every audience member feels involved. Their set list includes songs from the 50's to today's hits including Country, Motown, Rock, Doowop, Pop, Top-40 and everything in between. The Beatles, The Temptations, Frankie Valli, Bruno Mars, Chicago, Shania Twain, Frank Sinatra, AC DC---you name it and they play it!
