Junior Fair Board

Be a part of planning your community fair!

New for 2026, the Shippensburg Community Fair is proud to offer an opportunity for talented and dedicated youth volunteers to apply to our Junior Fair Board! The Junior Fair Board assists with the planning, execution, and support of the annual Shippensburg Community Fair by organizing activities, working with senior board members, and learning to be leaders in the community.

Opportunities for Involvement

  • Participation in planning for the Shippensburg Community Fair, the largest bi-county fair in Pennsylvania!

  • Learn more about agriculture and how the fair supports community organizations

  • Introduction to community involvement and volunteering

  • Have a voice in improving the Shippensburg Community Fair

  • Develop communication, teamwork, leadership, and time management skills

  • Plan, prepare and execute fair events and activities organized by the Junior Fair Board

  • Free admission & parking at the fair, access to all events, and additional privileges!

Responsibilities of a Junior Fair Board Member

  • Be willing to help promote the Shippensburg Community Fair in a positive manner

  • Act professionally in interactions with Junior and Senior Fair Board members, fair staff and volunteers, as well as fairgoers, vendors, and other guests

  • Abide by the Junior Fair Board Code of Conduct at all times, and in all interactions

  • Attend at least 2/3 of scheduled Junior Fair Board meetings, held monthly

  • Attend at lease one senior Fair Board meeting a year

  • Serve on at least one standing committee

  • Work a minimum of 5 hours during the setup/cleanup of the fair, plus a minimum of 10 hours during the operation of the fair

Member Qualifications

  • Ages 15-21

  • Must reside in Cumberland or Franklin County

  • Be able to fulfill a minimum one-year term as a Junior Fair Board Member (October 1 - September 30). You may re-apply each year to stay involved!

  • Complete the Junior Fair Board application, including parent/guardian consent (if under 18)

  • Be committed to helping your community and the Fair!
