Fair Queen Pageant Rules
Listed below are the rules for the Shippensburg Community Fair Queen
Pageant. If you have any questions about these rules or
requirements, please contact

the event.
2009 Shippensburg Fair Queen Pageant Rules

Contestants: Ages 17 to 21, as of July 20,
2009, must be single, never married, have no children and a resident
of the area. Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
Acceptance of applications from non-Shippensburg residents will be
at the committee's discretion.

Pageant will be held Monday, July 20, 2009 at 7:30
PM at the fairgrounds stage.

Mandatory rehearsals will be held Tuesday, July
14, at 7:00 PM and Thursday, July 16 at 7:00 PM at the fairgrounds
stage.

Each contestant must have a sponsor. A
sponsor can be an organization or business.

Each contestant will submit a completed entry
form, one (1) recent picture, and a brief biography to be included
in the local newspapers and Fair Queen program. You may use
the entry form as a guide for the biography. Note:
Biographies will be printed as they are received. Please make
sure it is written the way you want it to appear.

Contestants will appear in an evening gown with
appropriate accessories. They are judged on appearance,
attire, poise, speaking ability, personality and a personal
interview.

If crowned Miss Shippensburg Community Fair or
Miss Shippensburg Fair Sweetheart, winner agrees to participate in
fair activities, July 20-25, 2009. Both will also be asked to
represent the fair at various activities through the year and agree
to return in July 2010 to assist in the crowning of the new Queen
and Sweetheart.

Miss Shippensburg Community Fair is expected to
represent the Shippensburg Community Fair at the State Fair Queen
Pageant held in Hershey, PA in January. Miss Shippensburg
Fair's original sponsor is expected to assist with the costs
associated with this pageant.

Should the Fair Queen be unwilling to fulfill her
duties, the Fair Sweetheart will be asked to fill in for her.
The Queen and her court will refrain from the use of illegal drugs,
alcohol and tobacco. Any usage of such products while the girl
is wearing the title or representing the Shippensburg Community Fair
will result in her title being passed to the Fair Sweetheart.
The use of profanity or inappropriate language is prohibited.

All contestants are required to attend a personal
interview with the judges prior to the contest. The committee
will schedule interviews and inform contestants of their appointment
time.

Contestants chosen as Fair Queen and Fair
Sweetheart must have a chaperone with them at all times during the
fair.

Contestant agrees to abide by all the rules of the
contest. Failure to abide by these guidelines will result in
forfeiture of the title. The tiara and sash will be passed to
the Fair Sweetheart who will assume the responsibilities of the Fair
Queen. The second runner-up will assume the responsibilities
of the Fair Sweetheart.

Decision of the judges is final. No score
sheets or judges comments will be given out following the
competition. Good sportsmanship is a must by the contestant,
her guests and family.
